Book Review : Everybody Does by Bob Goff / by Johnny Michael

Bob Goff is truly an extraordinary human being. While he’s a role model, I hesitate to say I aspire to be like him because I’m not sure I’ll ever be able live up the to fear defying and unconditional loving being that he is. This guy is a fantastic human being, and he's so full of love it makes me feel like — gosh, my scrappy soul has such a long way to go.

My favorite thing about Bob, is that he’s a real human. This is not a fictional character. He’s alive, here and now — living proof there’s good people on this planet. I put him in a rare category of people where it’s exciting to think about the fact that at this current point in history and time, he's here on earth! Walking among us!

Everybody Always is his second book, packed with more fascinating stories about his life it's a worthy follow up to his first bestseller Love Does. Full of adventure, humor and his personal experiences that travel along the highs of joy and dives into emotional depths — he inspires us all to live with constant bravery, use buckets of patience (literally),  and most importantly, love relentlessly.

This man’s resume of remarkable achievements and fun facts are simply incredible. He’s an author, lawyer, sea plane pilot, university professor, Honorary Consul for the Republic of Uganda, motivational speaker, founder of a profoundly impactful organization called Love Does, and his office is located on Tom Sawyer island in Disney World. (I probably even missed a few.) And like I said, he’s a real human being!

His messages are rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. (Another incredible fella and someone I always like to say I’m friends with.) But you don’t even have to be the slightest bit religious to enjoy his work, because these are universal messages of what happens when you let love be the guiding behavior in your life. Bob is proof that when you put love into the world, it works wonders. That's just what it does.

Personally it reminds me when I’m thinking about shortcutting, taking the sleazy, easy, shy, scaredy-cat or selfish route — that love is always the right move forward. Bob shares through his life experiences, that sometimes acting out of love can lead to terrifying dilemmas, but it is a challenge worth embracing and growing through it.

This is a deeply powerful collection of stories. Delightfully charming and at times so funny I laughed out loud, his storytelling style make the book a pleasure to read from cover to cover. Balloons in hand, and a heart full of love, Bob Goff is making an incredible difference on the planet we live on. I figure if more people read his books, the world would sure be a better place, and one with a lot more love.

If you haven’t already, give Love Does a read first. And to get to know Bob even better, you can call him up, he puts his phone number in the back of every book.
