Feel the rush of nostalgia. It’s the rad-bamma-jamma Pontiac Fiero, coming in hot from the year 1988. My friend Ed needed a little video. Enthusiastic to use my fancy-schmancy camera gear, I happily helped. From “let’s go make this” to finished edit it took about 6 hours… Fast like a Fiero, baby. All in a Sunday night, with a little rush of adrenaline in our spoilers, we cruised to Key Biscayne hanging out of the window of a friend’s car with a gimbal. (while being as safe as possible, of course.)
Notes for next time: I wish I would have had a better day and luck with the sunlight. More time for location scouting would have been great too. Another miss was capturing better sound and those Pontiac Fiero engine roars or maybe… “guttural purrs” would perhaps be more appropriate. Mistakes and missed opportunities aside, it was a valid learning experience.
But hey, overall I think we did pretty great, we knew we wanted a driving scene over the bridge, and the shot with the dashing sequential tail lamp really gets me going. The 80’s pop music absolutely nailed it too. If there ever is a future shot list of Pontiac Fiero videos I’d make sure to include the following: slow roll-downs of the window revealing a rebellious-coolest-guy-in-the-80s-high-school movie-Ed. Plus a girl with Aqua net hair and a poofy bright dress for some extra fire on the Fiero.
All said and done, it was a fun day. And I got paid for my services with pasta.
