Hi there, I made a pasta video. I make pasta often, but I don’t often film it. I wanted to create a little cooking video to practice a handful of things behind the camera. Since I’m in quarantine, my kitchen seemed like a prime location to film. I used three cameras for this edit: my chunky monkey DLSR Canon t3i, a GoPro Hero 5, and my iPhone rigged up to a DJI Osmo Mobile 3. It was a little tricky, and almost like juggling trying to switch camera positions and cook at the same time, but I managed to capture some interesting angles and feed myself at the same time. There was good daylight coming through the door walls plus I used some lighting around my apartment to direct a bit more shine. With my DLSR on manual, I tried to shed some of my rookie-bird wings and I used a wide aperture to get a nice background blur/bokeh effect, this comes through well on the closing shots of preparing the pasta and eating but made me look a bit soft on the opening shot, (need to get that in better focus next time). This was also the first time I used Adobe Premiere Pro CC for an edit. I spent my evenings watching Skillshare courses to get the hang of it. And glad I did, going through the struggle and making the switch from iMovie will make a big difference in what I can do going forward. The other helpful thing was planning a shot list and creating a quick shoot structure. I had the sequence pretty well-rehearsed in my head before it was time for action. Well, that feels like enough to say… In the words of Louis Prima and the fine-tune I used for this soundtrack, Buona Sera & buon appetito.
