“Grandma Gets a Corporate Job.” That was our prompt to run with on this month’s assignment.

Since Chat GPT is having a little revolutionary moment in the sun. I played around with it a bit to see if it could help me with my brainstorming process. I asked it to write a comedic story about a granny getting a corporate job and it did. It had all the beats of a great story and granny saved the day by baking something… I even asked Chat GPT to generate some more ideas and premises and it dutifully provided some story ideas. And I thanked it for its efforts. I’m grateful for new powerful technologies and I’m excited about new innovative tools.

Ultimately I went with an original idea I had. Something that felt funnier and more original to my own mind. The premise is a Grandma who gets angry about some boardroom boys trying to double the prices of eggs, she gets so upset she starts throwing her sandals and putting her foot down on a bad idea.

It’s unexpected that Granny is violent, and funny to me because I know of more than a few Nonna’s who use the shoe as a threat of beating unruly children. Boards below. This makes me think of another idea.. an alleyway with a sign that says just that and a scene where people cross through an Italian street and old women throw shoes down below at the people passing by for a little expression of cathartic ventilation.
